In 2010 Steve and Sam decided to form 3D Cases Ltd to offer more than just flight cases. Today Sam and Steve still enjoying working together after all these years, and as before are involved with their suppliers on further improving flight case designs and flight case construction methods. Their aim, as always, is to design the best flight cases on the planet which, as in the past, other companies try to imitate. And guess what – it’s working!

The directors of 3D Flight Cases Ltd are probably the most experienced flight case designers in the world with each having around 30 years in flight case design plus ‘hands on’ experience of how flight cases are used and abused in the hectic life of world touring.

Prior to this Steve Kane was one of the founder members of Packhorse Flight Cases in the mid-70′s and is the designer of the original ‘double sided’ extrusion used in flight case construction. Some 10 years later Sam Robinson joined Packhorse Cases, spending the following 20 plus years improving on flight case designs and flight case construction methods and still remains a share holder in Packhorse Cases today. After some twenty years Steve left Packhorse Cases to work on live concerts and other large events round the globe before joining Amptown Cases in Germany.

The MUT Case, the most popular flight case in the world

The most popular and versatile flight case in the world, the standard flight case road trunk. The 3D Flight Cases version of their MUT (Multi Use Trunk) is built to a size that offers 4 across stacking in a standard articulated trailer and available as standard in lengths of 1200mm, 900mm and 600mm with other sizes to order.

The standard MUT flight case can be constructed with either 7mm, 10mm or 13mm case panels, comes as standard with hinged lid, 4 heavy duty castors and 4 heavy duty recessed snap back handle.

In addition, if air freight is going to be the standard method of transport a honeycomb panel can be used. This is constructed using an aluminum honeycomb with a glass fibre woven mat heat and pressure laminated to each side. This produces a lightweight and incredibly strong rigid panel as used in aircraft flooring, motorsport and in the new generation of train and coach production,  resulting in a weight saving of 40% in the overall flight case weight.

Internally MUT flight case can be foam lined, carpeted or painted. In addition this flight case can be supplied with fixed or movable partitions, again foamed, carpeted or painted.

Optional extra’s include additional handles, stacking dishes, label dishes, extra wheels, internal trays etc etc.
